£1304 .04 for Operation Christmas Child

At the end of this autumn term GMS wish to celebrate the success of Operation Christmas Child.

The four houses were in competition with each other to raise money for this important charity, which gives a shoe box of presents to children in the less economically developed countries of the world, including Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kyrgyzstan, Montenegro and Romania.

The idea truly inspired the children in every form in the school. The final result was a close run thing, but the results are as follows: Endurance 1^st, Endeavour 2^nd, Victory 3^rd and Warrior 4^th.

As well as the winning house being recognised, the winning form in each house was awarded a prize in assembly just recently. Huge congratulations go to 10 0 in Warrior House, 10A in Victory House, 9G in Endeavour House and 9A in Endurance House.

As a school we raised an impressive £1304.04.

Correspondence from the Maidenhead Processing Centre revealed that 6543 shoeboxes were sent out from this area – a 5% increase over the previous year. The success of the enterprise was so formidable that Marlow Free Press came to photograph the boxes outside the school.

GMS, especially the house leaders, thank everyone who made this such a successful charity event.
