Football and Rugby Boot Amnesty

Everyone is familiar with the scenario: the child who has no boots for the PE lesson. This child is not trying to avoid PE, far from it, the boots were just forgotten in the mayhem of the early morning school run. Perhaps there is a frantic telephone call home, but it is not possible for them to be brought into school.

This is not the only reason GMS are asking parents, carers and readers of the website to donate old pairs of football or rugby boots to the PE Department. Some children come from homes where a pair of boots is a luxury difficult to afford.

Research shows that many boots go into shoe recycling, yet on close inspection have much life left in them. They would be invaluable for the child in need of a pair on a temporary one-day basis or for the longer term.

The PE Department ask that you look in the cupboard under the stairs, at the back of the garage, even in the shed, for boots no longer in use. The pupil who brings them in will be awarded with vivos.
