English Trip to the British Library

The Year 13 A-level Literature students enjoyed a fabulous workshop and tour based on the Gothic genre at the British Library in London on Friday 18th October.

The Year 13 students are currently studying a range of Gothic texts as part of their examination preparation, including Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights, The Bloody Chamber and Macbeth, so the opportunity to see some of the original editions and manuscripts of many of these fabulous texts was a sheer joy and extremely beneficial to their studies. There were two of the original editions of the first ever Gothic novel ‘The Castle of Otranto’ written by Horace Walpole and an array of his incredible collection of Gothic artefacts.  The students had a thoroughly memorable experience and learnt a great deal about this fascinating genre which will certainly enhance their studies.
