Operation Christmas Child

Since 1990, The Samaritans have successfully run Operation Christmas Child. Millions of girls and boys in less developed areas of the world have benefited from receiving a shoe box full of Christmas gifts in December.

This year the four Houses in GMS, Endeavour, Endurance, Victory and Warrior have decided to join the hundreds of other organisations that donate to the poorer children of our world. Every GMS pupil has the opportunity to buy a box and fill it with inexpensive gifts that will be delivered to girls and boys in another part of the world.

There is another dimension to this enterprise. Endeavour, Endurance, Victory and Warrior are in competition with each other to fill the most boxes. Valuable points will be added to their house total should they win. It promises to be a close run competition.

This is another fabulous initiative by the house leaders of GMS. They have to be congratulated for enrolling the school and generating enthusiasm for the project. By doing so, they have raised the profile of the grinding poverty in other parts of the world, where these small gifts may be the only Christmas present a child receives.
