Eco Bronze Award for GMS

As a result of hard, dedicated work by the Eco School’s committee, led by Linda Ludgate, the Bronze Award has been awarded to GMS.

This is a fantastic result.

The application was submitted in July 2014 and contained evidence that Great Marlow was working towards sustainability by regularly recycling products; by raising awareness of the school environment; and by making healthy choices for eating available, to name just three. 

To drive the eco message across the whole school a committee, made up from the school community of staff and students, meet on a regular basis to discuss the way forward to generate proactive involvement by all.

Sixth formers are planning assemblies to highlight strategies that will ensure the Silver Award for GMS. Themed weeks to raise awareness will include: ‘switching off the lights’, ‘waste not’, and ‘zero-tolerance’ on litter.

This award needs the whole school to be actively involved. It is an important initiative that will ensure a better learning environment for all, as well as embedding a way of life that will help save the fragile planet we inhabit.
