Today: Music Festival 8/07

Welcome and come to GMS’s Festival Concert on Friday 8 July, when our wonderfully talented musicians are going to perform.

The concert on 8th July comes at the end of a series of concerts. In May our musicians performed in the Cookham Music Festival at St John the Baptist Church, Cookham Dean. Jackson, Dan and Paul (all Key Stage 3) formed an ensemble and joined students from surrounding schools in a festival that celebrates the musical talent of young musicians. Jackson, Dan and Paul’s commitment and dedication to rehearsing regularly throughout the year paid dividends, performing superbly to a full audience and to musicians that were mainly from Key Stage 4 and 5. The band (in their first appearance together) represented Great Marlow School superbly and we look forward to more performances from the band throughout the year.

The Music Department recently visited Foxes Piece Primary School and Burford Primary School to welcome all Year 6 students to Great Marlow School. A variety of ensembles and soloists performed a thrilling concert for the students, showcasing the outstanding musical talent across all age groups at Great Marlow School. The concert featured the Wind Band, trumpet and piano soloists and multiple Pop and Rock bands and included a wide range of musical genres. To add to the special occasion, students of Foxes Piece and Burford School asked several questions to the musicians about Music at Great Marlow School. The musicians undoubtedly inspired the soon-to-be Year 7 students of Great Marlow School and performed superbly.
