Bag2School

FoGMS will be at the main Bobmore entrance gates and at the front doors of Redgrave Centre ready for our final Bag2School collection on Tuesday 21st June from 08:00 – 09:00.

Everyone in the GMS community is asked to please have a look through cupboards and drawers to see if you have any of the items listed below that you would be happy to donate. This is a great opportunity to have a clear out whilst helping raise valuable funds to support school. We are paid 40p per kilo so the heavier the bags of donations,
the better!

All items have to be good-quality, clean and dry and placed in a tied-up bag. Please do let all your friends and family know we are collecting for this in case they have any items they would be

• Men’s, Ladies’ and Children’s clothing
• Paired shoes (tied together or elastic band around)
• Handbags
• Hats
• Bags
• Scarves and Ties
• Jewellery
• Lingerie
• Socks
• Belts
The clothes collected from school are baled into big ‘botany bales’ and loaded onto trucks for export. Once they arrive at the factory, they are sorted into 150 different clothing types depending on the end market. The clothing is then distributed around the globe to where is it most needed! This could be a purpose-built 2nd hand store in Eastern Europe or South America, or a market stall in East or West Africa, providing valuable employment for importers, warehouse staff, transport companies and stall holders as well as affordable clothes for local people.
