R-U-Safe CSE and Missing

Sadly, in these times of easy internet access, there has been a rise in the exploitation of children and young people, by individuals who have an agenda to exploit.

Barnardos report that child sexual exploitation (CSE) “affects children and young people of all backgrounds and from all communities, right across the UK.”

In Buckinghamshire, there is a specialist organisation, which has developed an expertise in offering help and guidance on this issue. It is called R-U-Safe CSE and Missing. The service works with children and young people aged 11-18 years old, providing specialist advice.

The organisation was founded in 2006 following a CSE scoping exercise commissioned by Bucks County Council. Since then, they have been influential in developing a bespoke local response to CSE in Buckinghamshire, called the Swan Unit. This unit is now fully operational and forms part of the local statutory response. It is research-led and based on the Barnardo’s 4-A’s model – Attention, Advocacy, Assertive Outreach and Access. All their staff are trained, are professionals and have experience in this field; they are committed to helping parents, carers and young people who approach them for advice.

GMS do all they can to support children in their care. Do not hesitate to contact the school should there be any cause for concern.
