Infants Fascinated by Colour

At the end of the spring term, Great Marlow Science Department introduced Marlow Church of England School to the science of colour.
Miss Bawden and Mrs Gosling enthralled the pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 with science that created colour and, more amazingly, made colours change.

• skittle rainbows, from which they learned about dissolving and diffusing colour
• chromatography flowers, the beautiful colourful paper flowers they took home with them were a result of applying the dissolving and diffusing technique seen in the skittle rainbows experiment

The pupils also observed the exciting ‘Elephants Toothpaste’ scenario: this is where a chemical reaction foams over a large conical flask to make a colourful mess.
