Year 9 Vaccinations

The school nurse has organised for the Year 9 cohort to be given the important injections of diptheria, tetanus, polio and meningococca, on 13th March 2018.

The actual injections are administered by a team of medical practitioners from outside the school. Diptheria prevents a bacteria in the throat leading to difficulty breathing, sometimes heart failure and paralysis. The polio vaccination prevents paralysis. Tetanus is a way of preventing bacteria found in soil, manure, or dust infecting us through cuts on the skin. Finally, Meningococcal ACWY vaccinations are vital to prevent meningitis and blood poisoning called septicaemia.

It’s important for the health and safety of our children that these injections are administered to ensure everyone is fully safeguarded against preventable illnesses.
