Fun with Flight: STEM Science Roadshow

Excitement builds as GMS prepares to host a STEM Roadshow on behalf of the Royal Air Force, on March 1st 2018.

‘Fun with Flight’is a 50-minute jet fuelled presentation exploring the physics of flying. Students will discover how the physics they study in the classroom is an integral part of the work that engineers undertake in the RAF and other engineering organisations.

The roadshow was devised in response to the government’s acknowledgement that here is already a shortfall of ‘homegrown’ scientists and engineers to meet the needs and demands of the country. There is optimism that by capturing the interest and enthusiasm of young people aged 12-14, the numbers that take STEM subjects and, ultimately, increase the pool of talent in years to come. Let’s hope that our GMS students are enthused; we hope they go on to develop their interest in science both in school and beyond.
