Child Care Placement at Sunshine Montessori

Cerys Stone shares her experience of being in a placement in Sunshine Montessori.

“When I first started this placement, I was extremely nervous. The idea of being in a completely new environment where I did not know anyone was quite scary. However, from the time I started I realised I had nothing to fear.

I always look forward to Thursday and Fridays. After being in there a few months, I feel like part of the staff. They make me feel very welcome, always ask for my opinion and consider the points make. They readily give advice and constantly offer real examples that help with my coursework!

I have really bonded with the children. It always nice walking in and being greeted with such lovely, smiley children, excited to see me. I have enjoyed working, playing  and being part of the children’s routine. It gives me an active role in their development. From working with the children, I have been experienced the things we learn about in lesson time.

So far, I have worked in the toddler room. There is a routine that I really enjoy, because I feel confident being involved with the different jobs that need to be done.

Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, Sleep Time, Dinner, Cleaning, Activities

Although I will be sad to leave the toddler room, am excited to start with the babies. I will still be able to see all the children I have worked with already, while doing something new.

When I do move into a primary school, I would love to keep visiting the children and practitioners at Sunshine Montessoria, because I will miss them all, a lot.”
