The GMS Amnesty Youth Group have been taking part in Amnesty International’s 2017 Write for Rights campaign.
They gave an assembly encouraging Year 7 students to take part by writing letters of support to two people suffering human rights violations.
Since 2012, Rodrigo Mundaca has protected the right to water of communities in an arid region of central Chile, despite death threats, physical attacks and spurious legal challenges.
Tadjadine Mahamat Babouri, better known as Mahadine, was arrested on 30 September 2016 after posting videos on Facebook criticising the government of Chad’s alleged mismanagement of public funds and expressing concern about the country’s economic crisis.
The Amnesty Youth Group will be recruiting new members in the spring term.
