For the Thursday Sports Club Reward Trip this year, we decided to enter into the festive spirit by heading to Windsor to experience the open air ice skating rink.
It was on Friday 8th December that 20 excited KS3 students, (all wearing Christmas jumpers!) headed off to Windsor in the school minibuses. We arrived at Alexandra Gardens in Windsor, where the rink was set up for the Christmas period. The venue was decorated for Christmas and festive songs were playing, this created a wonderful atmosphere and put everyone in the mood for ice skating. |

With our skates on, we hobbled towards the rink. Some students were extremely confident and gracefully glided on to the ice; they proceeded to perform spins and turns with ease. The rest of us were considerably less elegant and desperately clung to the edge of the rink as our feet developed a mind of their own (mine decided to shoot out in opposite directions at speed!). |
As our confidence grew, so did our ability on the ice and we were soon attempting to make our way around the rink with some degree of grace and agility. There were, of course, a few slips and falls, but we all had a fantastic time and the students are already keen to return to Windsor on Ice next year! |
