D&T Trip to the Design Museum

 The D&T Department recently took 84 keen and eager students to the Design Museum in London. The whole experience has excited and motivated the students in unexpected ways. Of all the activities on offer the top three turned out to be: a crowd sourced wall, where a range of iconic objects, picked by members of the public, was on display; the augmented interactive displays; and the new Range Rover Velar exhibition costing over £100,000.

The best hands-on workshop was “Stranger by Design”. Our students saw a number of products where the form  disguised the product. Their challenge was to  take an everyday object and redesign it in a creative and unusual way.

 The walking tour around the London Eye proved very successful. The students enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of the South Bank and the sights have given inspiration that will transform their classroom projects.
