Activity Day Year 7

Following an enjoyable and successful trip to Longridge Activity Centre in Marlow last year, this year’s new intake were excited to be involved in the team-building activity again this year, this time at Westhorpe Water Sports Centre in Little Marlow, headquarters of Inspired Expeditions who run Great Marlow School’s DofE expeditions and the Year 8 camp night.
On Thursday 21st September, the entire Year 7 year group, plus tutors set off from school by coach, heading to Westhorpe for a day of activities designed to develop their communication, team and leadership skills.
The excited students were looking forward to a fantastic opportunity to get to know each other and their form tutors away from the school environment. On arrival, the Inspired Expedition instructors separated the students into groups and informed them which activities they would be involved in. All students would be participating in a water-based activity- either canoeing or kayaking, and a land-based activity: archery, bushcraft, orienteering or the climbing wall. Team challenges were central to all the activities.
The year 7 students enthusiastically involved themselves in every task and the activity leaders were impressed by both their behaviour throughout the day and their eagerness to participate in the various challenges.
A great start to Year 7 and a day all students (and staff) involved will remember as one packed with fun and exciting moments. This great experience, marks the beginning of their time at Great Marlow School.
