Happy Summer Reading

Even as an English teacher I find that my reading habits drop off during the busy term time, but with the summer holidays upon us we will all have a little more time and headspace for indulging ourselves in some literary, or even trashy, reading.

The English Department have worked on a list of suggestions aiming to provide something for even the most reluctant readers. Those of you starting Key Stage 4 next year might want to focus on the challenging 19^th Century reads in readiness for GCSE Language and Literature. KS3, indulge yourselves with anything on the KS3 list.

If you are planning on taking A-level English, read widely: there is a list here specially to meet the requirements of the AQA course. If you have fallen out of the habit of regular reading, the titles marked with an asterisk will remind you of the pleasures of a good read. You will not have as much time to read again until next summer and it’s a good excuse to escape the chore of emptying the dishwasher!
