Refugee Week 19th – 25th June

The Citizenship Department at Great Marlow School are supporting Marlow Refugee Action Group, who are sending much needed items to the island of Chios: a Greek island close to the coast of Turkey that has recently had a big influx of new refugees.  The conditions there are difficult.

The Citizenship Department ask that donations are taken to B11, where they will be dispersed to those transporting them to the desperate people.

Below is a list of items required:

SPORTS ITEMS

Leather footballs, cricket bats and balls, rounders bats and balls, baseball bats and balls, volleyball with net, whistles and 10m tapes

Sports kit including T-shirts, shorts, particularly men’s sizes S/XS;  socks and trainers – sizes 40-44

RECREATIONAL ITEMS

Art and drawing materials, musical instruments, games like chess, backgammon and packs of cards

Outdoor games, for example, boules, Frisbee and kites

EDUCATION ITEMS

Fiction and non-fiction books in Farsi, Arabic, French, Urdu, Kurdish; notebooks (paper A4 pads); ballpoint pens; HB pencils; white board and  marker pens.

Pencil case with: pens, pencils, ruler, erasers, geometry sets and pencil sharpener

GENERAL  

Smart phone portable chargers, smart phone speakers, head torches and small rucksacks
