Bucks Golf Championship

Great Marlow School entered nine golfers in three teams in to this year’s Bucks Golf Championship, as reigning Buckinghamshire Champions, the students were looking forward to defending their title.

At Wycombe Heights, it was a bright and windy day, which posed a difficult challenge for the golfers, everyone was aware that a low score would be hard score to attain.

This didn’t deter the team of Thalia Kirby, Taylor Paul and Jamie Kerley who were defending the team title won by Great Marlow the previous year. After some impressive iron play, Taylor shot an impressive level par score, which led to a score of 36 points. Jamie Kerley was in excellent form with the putter leading him to play under his handicap at 40 points. Even with these impressive scores, it still took a countdown to determine the winner and Thalia’s 35 points was the best score of the day.

GMS will represent Bucks at the National Team Gold Championships at Woodall Spa later in the year.

On the back of their impressive result Taylor Paul and Thalia Kirby have been selected to represent Bucks in the South East Schools Championships in June at West Essex Golf Club
