Mini Olympic Event 2017

The Fifth Mini Olympic, annual event, took place on Weds 8^th March in the Redgrave Centre sports hall. All the local schools in Bucks were invited to attend. In total there were ten teams, with 8 KS3 students in each team.

The victors were Chiltern Way, (Wendover Campus) and GMS send congratulations to them.

Our own team came 3rd overall, having performed some first class entertainment routines. Our Year 7 boys rendition of ‘The Haka’, the Maori war dance performed by the New Zealand rugby team before a match, was outstanding.  Equally brilliant, was the gymnastic display by the Year 7 girls, at the closing ceremony.

All participants, including those with mobility limitations, took part in a circuit of challenges, spending 5 minutes at each station gaining points for their team. Stations required students to undertake a number of challenges, including a table tennis rally, badminton ‘keepy-uppy’, hurdles and beanbag target shots. The final event was designed to offer extra points and was called The Grand Relay Challenge.

Twenty Year 10 GCSE PE students were chosen by the department to run the stations and record the points. They were all a credit to the school and helped make the event a success. A huge thank you is sent to them.

Our amazing Year 7 team, is thanked for performing with such fantastic sportmanship: Matt Stan, Ben Brzezicki, Mollee Westfield, Amilia Hunter, Charlie Brooks, Harry McNally, Olly Webb and Emily Selbourne.

There was a great atmosphere in the sports hall, as a result the event was enjoyed enormously by all.
