Paris is Always a Good Idea

On Thursday 13th October, 21 GCSE French students and three staff spent the weekend in Paris. The purpose of the trip was to inspire the students and improve their achievement giving them valuable experience in the origin of their chosen language.

Day 1 in Paris saw students being introduced to the city with a guided tour of its monuments, lunch in the Jardin Tuileries and time to explore Montmartre with it’s beautiful views of the city from the Sacré Coeur. The evening was spent in an immersive language lesson with French tutors.

Day 2 took the students up the Montparnasse tower to learn about Parisian history and geography whilst indulging in the panoramic views of the city. Following a leisurely lunch in the Jardins du Trocadéro, under the Eiffel Tower, students took a cruise down the River Seine listening to the French guided commentary. As the sun set over the city, students took a stroll down the Champs Elysées towards the Arc de Triomphe.

Throughout the trip students took every opportunity to put their language learning into practice. The Paris trip enriched students both linguistically and culturally.
